At this year’s Parallel Vienna I am showing my new work “Victoria” – a 100×56 cm lenticular print, within the Land Steiermark (province of Styria) showcase of artists who are taking part in the 2023 Land Steiermark stipend programmes. Curated by GUKUBI MATO (Tom Biela, Martin Guevara-Kunerth).

26 August Danube Waltz interpretation @ Erstes Wiener Krandaubel Opening, Vienna
2 September Foam Zone – live improvisation with Lale Rodgarkia-Dara @ GIF Grazer Impro Fest, Schaumbad

On 26 August in the evening I will – among many other artists – perform my interpretation of the Danube Waltz „An der schönen blauen Donau“ for „Erstes Wiener Krandaubel-Opening“ on the roof of Krandaubel boat on the Danube. There will be vinyl postcards of all the Danube Waltz interpretations.

2 September Together with Lale Rodgarkia-Dara I will perform “Foam Zone” in the framework of GIF – Grazer Impro Fest – remixing sounds recorded around Schaumbad: “The Schaumbad is surrounded by industrial plants, a district heating plant, a climbing hall, a dunghill, a housing estate, a wedding palace, a millrace and the Mur River and embedded in very diverse soundscapes between droning, rattling and chirping. In their outdoor live improvisation Adina Camhy and Lale Rodgarkia-Dara will work with found sounds and objects from the environment of the Schaumbad, alienate and remix them.”

Happy to have arrived in Trieste for AiR Trieste! I am artist in resident here for two months (April & May 2023), researching on Carso/Karst/Kras:

“In my project ‘Carso / Karst / Kras’ I would like to approach karst landscape from multiple perspectives. As a typo locality, the transnational landscape ‘Karst’ (Italian ‘Carso’, Slovenian and Croatian ‘Kras’) above the Gulf of Trieste and in Slovenia is considered to give the geological phenomenon its name.

The Karst, as a rugged landscape with various formations such as caves and sinkholes, offers a variety of formal, historical, literary and theoretical points of contact for my research.

The aim of the stay on site is to collect different fragments on the topic and to relate them to each other in a new and unexpected way, similar to my approach in my essay short film Crater (2022). In particular, I am interested in relations between humans, technology and landscapes in the age of Capitalocene.”

On Sunday 11 December 11PM Ö1 Radiokunst will play my improvised remix of Werner Pirchner’s Ö1 radio jingles, Katrin Euller’s sound project Rent, aswell as our collaborative 10-minutes audio play: “Droneland”.

“For the program Radiokunst, Adina Camhy remixed the Ö1 Signations (1994-2017) designed by Werner Pirchner. Pichner’s sounds, which shaped a radio era and inscribed themselves in everyday life through their repetitions, are looped, alienated, distorted and electronically processed in Camhy’s contribution.”

The two sound artists are travelling through landscapes of Vienna’s south-eastern periphery – a seemingly Non-Place land between Lobau, Danube, oil port, logistics centre, cemetery and refinery. How does the landscape on the edge of the big city sound like? What history meets what possible futures here? Is there a way out of capitalist reality?
Field recordings, synthesizer sounds and spoken word create a micro-portrait of a landscape on the edge.

Rent, a sound projetc by Katrin Euller
Rent focuses on harsh analog sounds as well as digital sound synthesis. In combination, this creates tracks that are somewhere in the realm of experimental music, between, noise, drone and ambient.
